Altrusa of Clovis, New Mexico, was founded in 1947.  Our members pride themselves on giving back to the community in several unique ways, especially focusing on literacy.  We are involved in many long-term projects that have been going on for years.  For example, we founded the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico and Meals on Wheels.  We deliver meals every month, and hold an annual food drive for the Food Bank.  A few of our other projects are:

- Nancy Taylor Pumpkin Patch held annually in October to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico and to promote literacy.

- In the Beginning provides educational baskets to first-time mothers 21 and under in Curry County.

- Meals on Wheels, we were instrumental in founding Meals on Wheels and an Altrusa member sits on the Board of Directors.

- Cancer Closet, provide comfort pillows and snacks for patients at the CHPH Cancer Center.

- Fresh Start provides a basket of household items and a food basket for women leaving the domestic violence shelter.

- Book Box  collect donations of used books and redistribute throughout the community to nursing homes, hospitals, women's shelters, detention centers and library.

- Food Boxes for Deployed Troops provide non-perishable food items for our military members overseas.

- Scholarships  We provide two $500 scholarships to high school seniors each year based on their financial need and qualifications.
